The US Dollar Index was created in 1973 to track the value of the North American currency. Since the introduction of the Euro, when the components of this index were adjusted, the US Dollar Index was never adjusted or rebalanced to reflect current reality. Cut The Spread decided to create a new index to track the US Dollar value.

This article is the result of a research conducted by Cut The Spread about the US Dollar Index. Our findings show that the USD Index may be overstating the real value of the US currency by not rebalancing the basket of currencies that should be part of the index.

The US Dollar Index is a composite of six USD pairs created by the FED in 1973 to keep track of the value of the US currency.
